Secondary

Based on the National Curriculum Framework of 2005, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Secondary and Higher Secondary curriculum aims to give students the chance to thrive in their academic studies in grades 9 through 12. The curriculum is a perfect fusion of curricular domains that are equitable with curricular areas, envisioning the all-around growth of pupils.

In practise, the secondary curriculum is learner-centered, with the goal of helping pupils develop their self-concept, sense of initiative, aesthetic sensibility, and sportsmanship.

The key aspects which define the learning process are:

  • Comprehensive Curriculum: this allows students to develop a broad knowledge base and explore their interests.
  • Differentiated Instruction: Having differentiated instruction techniques to cater to individual student’s strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles.
  • Specialization and Electives: Offering a variety of elective options helps students explore their passions and develop expertise in specific fields.
  • Project-Based Learning: Allowing students to apply their knowledge and skills to real-world situations, promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and creativity.
  • Technology Integration: A well-designed secondary program should integrate technology effectively to enhance learning experiences.
  • Career Guidance: Having career guidance and counseling services to help students explore different career paths, understand the requirements of various professions, and make informed decisions about their future.
  • Social and Emotional Support: Providing a supportive and inclusive school environment, fostering positive relationships, and offering counseling services or mentorship programs can contribute to students' overall well-being and academic success.
  • Assessment and Feedback: A balanced mix of formative and summative assessments, including tests, projects, presentations, and portfolios, allows teachers to track students' learning outcomes and guide their academic growth.
  • Extracurricular Activities: Providing opportunities for students to develop teamwork, and leadership skills, and pursue their interests outside of the academic realm. Extracurricular involvement promotes a well-rounded education and personal growth.
  • Parent and Community Engagement: Establishing effective communication channels, involving parents in their children's education, and engaging community members through partnerships or volunteer opportunities can create a supportive network that enhances students' learning experiences.
